I'm passionate not only about making music but also about empowering young musicians through my knowledge.
My private cello students have accomplished to enrol with renowned professors at music universities. I have given cello masterclasses, e. g. at Deciso in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and at Music University of Würzburg.
Music is more than playing alone: I coach chamber music ensembles such as trios and quartets, e. g. repeatedly at Mit Musik-Miteinander at Kronberg Academy.
And the whole picture: I lead improvisation workshops with young musicians in order to find fresh and creative approaches to making music, e. g. for the Neue Philharmonie Lausitz in Görlitz and at Konzerthaus Dortmund.
What matters to me?
My approach to both playing music and teaching music is holistic:
The continuous discovery of the physical properties of the instrument goes hand in hand with the detailed elaboration of one's own interpretation of a work, also based on music theoretical insights.
Not only is an in-depth study with cello technique essential: Crucially, I draw on my own experience with body-oriented approaches such as the Alexander Technique and with mindfulness practices.
